Everywhere I look in our urban oasis, I see food. The beans are starting to produce, the salad greens and herbs are being harvested and replanted weekly, the strawberries are still going strong, and the tomatoes... Oh, the tomatoes. They have officially reached the roofline and are starting to double over, and there are green tomatoes absolutely EVERYWHERE right now! We tried counting yesterday, but every time we moved a leaf, more tomatoes showed up and we lost count! There are easily a thousand tomatoes in our 10 plants right now, and they're still creating new blossoms.
The weather has been fickle this year and we're struggling to keep our plants from overwatering with all our rain, but so far we haven't seen more than a few yellowed leaves.
I'm off to add soapy water to the strawberry leaves to fight whatever creepy crawler decided that our strawberry leaves would make a tasty snack, but here in the oasis there's even room for a few freeloaders.
Just don't tell the squirrels I said that!
