DH got a call at work on thursday from his second job... they said he'd been caught sleeping at the desk, and fired him on the spot.
Now first of all, he doesn't sleep at work. Second, there's no possible way for them to have gotten a picture of him doing ANYTHING. He sits in an entry-room doing access-control when he's not out on rounds. He demanded to see this "picture," but they said they don't have to show him a thing.
(sigh) So we're down to 2/3 of our income with less than a month to Christmas. His primary job will cover our bills, but even groceries are gonna be fun to come up with. He's got an application out for another job already, but... ouch. He's feeling pretty low about it too; he's never actually been fired before. Let alone for something he didn't do. But we knew this company was corrupt when he rehired with them. He thinks it's because a few weeks ago they tried to write him up for calling in sick with less than 4 hours warning... and he brought his cell-phone in & proved that he'd given them 6+ hours. He's the 3rd to be fired in 2 months, and isn't taking it personally... but he isn't taking it terribly well either.
I could scream. It's not fair. It's not right, but there doesn't seem to be anything we can do. We can't possibly afford a lawyer, and DH refuses to "go there" anyway. He says too many people abuse the system, and he won't be a part of it.
At least I had a good start on Christmas shopping before this happened! Don't know what we'll do about the rest, but we'll get through this. I did promise to stick by him "for poorer or poorer" after all!
